More than 170 AYP members braved
the weather on March 16 to attend the AYP Program Event held at
Citizen’s Bank Park . Keith Harrell delivered a powerful
message to all of us about how “Attitude is Everything”
and how with the right attitude we can accomplish so much. Keith
kept his presentation fun and exciting.
During Keith’s presentation, one of the things he challenged
us on was to face our fears about public speaking. When asked
who would come up to help with his speech, no one raised their
hands to help. When he talked about putting our fears of public
speaking behind us, he rephrased the question by asking who would
come up and finish his presentation if he were to pay for a vacation
for someone and their family. Several hands went up immediately.
Trish Warriner was one of the more exuberant AYP members with
this offer and was asked to come up. Keith presented her with
one of his books on CD. Trish jokingly asked where he was sending
her on her vacation. Keith laughed and said that no one had actually
ever asked that questioned before however, since he used the example
of sending someone on a vacation, he should probably own up to
the offer. Last week, Trish received a call from Keith’s
travel agent and arrangements are being made to send Trish and
her husband to Disney World. Talk about changing someone’s
attitude. Congratulations Trish!
As part of our effort to get more of our YMCA’s to participate
in our Chapter, it was announced that the Liberty Trail Chapter
would begin a financial assistance program to YMCA staff whose
Association did not cover all or any of an AYP membership. We
feel so strongly about the value of our membership, we want to
make sure everyone has the opportunity to join. More information
will be sent to all YMCAs soon.
Frank Fortuna was another happy AYP member when he won the business
card drawing. Frank received a certificate the will cover his
registration fee ($600 value) for this summers National AYP event
in Boston.
This was a great event. Thank you to all who attended.
